Stunning example no doubt... More cherished than concours, and with a limited appeal, I'd be a buyer at 3k...... Good luck with your endeavours!

I see this is now for sale on eBay classified at £6,950. Location has moved to Kent.
Too expensive I agree, but it does look lovely. |

wet blanket time ?
Had a clutch so probably been sat for along time and the friction plate had stuck to the flywheel. A 240 GLE I bought a few years ago did this.
Been sat a long time with dirty oil in it -possibly- so bearing surfaces and cam lobes may have been affected by the acids that build up in dirty oil. Seals will have dried up some may even have stuck to the shaft and will tear when moved. It needs a cam belt and all othe belts replacing as well as brake discs and seals before it goes anywhere, unless you are going to sit and look at it rather than use it. But these thigs are easy if time consuming and expensive if you pay someone else to do, and no welding or paintwork, hopefully, and a pristine interior is definitely a very good thing. As ever its a balance.

Cold wet blanket ...
As soon as one buys a one owner from new car, it ceases to be a one owner from new car, it will never be a one owner from new car again.
It sounds like beneath concerns that have been expressed it might be a good car. Well it is a Volvo. It might be difficult to determine whether it is a trade sale. What warranties will actually be implied by law. If I were currently looking to buy I'd be cautious of investing very serious money on a private sale basis. And for serious money I'd want the car fully checked and prepped and all known current issues to be fully rectified. Just my thoughts. but above all, as john.wigley said: "The important thing is that it continues to be cherished, as it obviously has been thus far, so it is worth waiting for the right person to buy the car." |
