Default Do I need elbows

On a non-Turbo 10v 850 1996 I need to replace some of the old mushy cracked vacuum elbows. At around £5 each I was thinking of just using silicone hose and connecting the points with the hose even if it’s a 90-degree bends like the one in the notorious inlet manifold. Would this work, or would I still need the elbows?

If so what type of hose would be suitable and what size.

Id use elbows for very tight turns, like that notorious manifold one. I'm also hugely confident you can get them for less than £5.

Had to laugh when i read the title "Do I need elbows"? My first response was they do come in handy when trying to remove your jumper

Have a look here and here or try a good local motor factor as they some times have carousels with such things. You may also get some in a breakers from cable operated Cruise Control vacuum lines.

I would definitely fit them. Elbows that is. It matters not the quality of the pipe, silicone or otherwise. Any pipe wall subject to heat/expansion/contraction over too tight a radius will fail in the end.

Cool

Morning Derry, in my humble opinion You really do need elbows, the list is endless. For starters you can't do a proper 'nudge nudge', then you can't bend your arm properly when drinking your Guinness. Then of course, a Gentleman always takes his weight on his Elbows.

Regards,Keith.
