Default Window seals. Plus questions.

Hi all

Apologies if this has been posted before but I couldn’t find a thread close to mine after searching.

Have wind noise through driver and passenger side windows, can live with it, but the drivers side whistles at motor way speed which is annoying, so I have to have to have the window open to stop it. Either that or have the pro logic up loud and I’m getting sick and tired of temporary tinnitus anytime I go and see my brother.

A. Being a coupe owner, only once before with a 2008 BMW where the windows would drop 100mil or so after opening and then raise. I’m guessing, looking at the way the window flexes when closing the door, this is not the case with the C70. (Laugh away)

B. Do I have to adjust the window or can the rubber seals be replaced as they are quite perished? Also where can I find them?

C: Not related but since I’m here. Looking for recommendations for tyres, have a mix and match on from the previous owner, lots of tread but they seem budget and I’m spinning up even in second and losing pressure, not sure if it’s the alloys though. From my time with a 98 S40 I know Volvos prefer a specific tread pattern!

As always any help is much appreciated!

Regards

Tom

Default Tyres Losing Pressure

Cannot answer your q on windows as my only experience is on a BMW where they drop down when opening and raise when closing and sometimes need resetting.

With regard to tyre pressures constantly needing topping up, I had my local ATS depot take the tyres off and buff the wheel seating areas. The wheels were starting to corrode, not badly, but enough to allow the tyres to lose some pressure over a week or two. They did a good job and didn't charge very much and it cured the problem. If you are thinking of replacing the tyres then I would have thought that any decent tyre place would check this and clean them as part of the fitting cost anyway.

If the seals are perished I would replace those first. Try Volvo as there are still a lot of random parts available, or good ones from a scrappie. The windows can be adjusted . But quite a fiddly job to do and endless patience needed.

Thanks needs 4 new tyres any way, loads of tread but previous owner skimped and got budget possibly part worn ones! Was thinking Goodyear Eagle F1’s as can get them for a decent price.

Will look at changing seals have gone to main dealer before so will try and hopefully won’t be too expensive!

Thanks you two!
