Default Hot rear discs?

Morning all,

Did all discs, pads and fluid a few weeks back, and thought I'd do a bit of a test this morning on my 20 mile commute into work.

I set off early and drove the whole way without using any brake application. Got to work and the front discs were stone cold (as expected), but both rear discs had some heat in them (50 deg c at a guess).

I was doing some fairly fast cornering (partially due to the lack of braking, but mostly that's just my driving style lol)... so I was wondering, does the ESC activate the rears, hence the heat?

Or have I just got two sticky rear callipers. I would be a little surprised as the rears looked in good condition.

Appreciate any input, thanks

Something is binding .

Presumably you used a proper caliper tool to reset the pistons, properly cleaned around the piston seals, and cleaned and relubed the guide pins?

Could well be binding, but I just have a hunch it's some sort of stability control activating the rear brakes... maybe just wishful thinking.

The car has an EPB, so the piston is retracted electrically, and then just pressed back with a g-clamp (VIDA guide mentions that it should not be rotated). Gave everything a good clean down, and relubed everything, but perhaps I wasn't very thorough, only my second time working on brakes. Will do some more investigating and then strip down if needs be.

I follow Volvoseden's Youtube video on resetting the EPB when fitting new pistons to my 2011 car - I'm sure just pushing them back in isn't right? - I use a Torx socket on a ratchet to wind the pistons back in. I have done this twice now and it works really well. You do need to remove the electric activator, however this isn't difficult and just means - at worst - replacing the cap bolts and seal (I have only needed to do this once to one side).

Before I splashed the cash for callipers I’d read the brake post started by “Ferdinotch”..(a few post down from this one)
A couple of suggestions/comments make interesting reading..
Cheers Bob
