have they said why?

i've heard so uch about bsr testing and the quality of their remap. and those whohave had troubles seem to have been sorted out very quickly by BSR.

could you detail what the issues were?

i see your a dealer of both so i am very curious to hear your opinion.

thankyou all

on my personal car i have a rica (`1997 manual 2wd V70R), and a few of my customers have the same type of car(s) but they have the bSR ppc setup as this allows them to tune and stock the car when they please. on a few occasions they have used my car to feel the difference between the 2 maps and they found my car had a bit more punch to it on WOT. Even with the P2 cars (S60/V70/S80).

after the 'test drives' they are a slowly going to be moving towards the RICA. I personally also find that RICA software is for 'customizable' so to speak as this what i plan for my car to compliment my other modifications.

the only real 'issue' they have is that they require a bit more 'punch' in the power delivery. I have driven their cars and found that the power delivery is a bit more subtle and laid back through the rev range

if your ever in Birmingham, your quite welcome to pop in and test the 2 for yourself (providing my customers in question haven't already swapped to RICA by then).

First of all, have you had it rolled?Just an remap?

Biggest restriction on the 850's are downpipe and exhaust. So replace that with an decent system and you're going to about 300 horses.

How would you compare the Rica to MTE Chad?

I know people who are unhappy with the Rica chip and are/have changed to MTE

I can't compare the 2 as i have never been in or experienced a car that has a MTE map.

Hence why i could only compare RICA and BSR as i have experienced both.

Chad

P.S. i was only asked about RICA and BSR, not MTE. Maybe you could give your expeience of MTE, it may be of some help to the original poster as im sure he was asking BSR, RICA or MTE.

i personally like the idea of a ton of torque at low rpms. truth be told just from the figures and torque curve i would choose BSR. however

I have heard a few bad things about BSR (torque spikes etc) but they also look after their customers from what i am told.

RICA has a little more bad opinion about the place. but also more happy customers (due to popularity) i have heard they have terrible customer service. with the exception of russ who comes highly recommended.

MTE, i have heard plenty about this map on this and other forums and the worst opinion i have come across is that its 'too progressive' however i see so many good reviews of this product and i may go for it even if it doesn't have the big low down punch and headling figures of the BSR.
also everyone who seems to have MTE got it from one man, Don, he also happens to be only 1 hour 20 mins away from me. he also has a rep for sorting out problems quickly and efficiently.

will let you know when i have saved up how good it is

Thankyou all!!

I would speculate that one of the reasons why you may have "heard" they have terrible customer service is that some customers try to deal direct with RICA HQ. That's like trying to call the Volvo factory in Sweden when you have a problem with your car! RICA is geared up to providing customer service via their extensive network of agents, in a similar way to how you deal with your local Volvo dealer for your car servicing requirments or any troubleshooting. So if you deal with RICA through the correct channels, you will be looked after very well.

Some of the RICA agents are also Volvo dealers, so again you should expect the highest level of customer service from a Volvo dealer.

All of the RICA agents in the UK are highly trained in automotive diagnostics. Many of them are trained and certified by Automotive Diagnostics Solutions who's training is recognised by the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI). All of these agents will aim to provide excellent customer service.

Over the last 2 years, RICA have made many improvements. The software is of very high quality and is now TUV approved. The RICA software itself and customer care procedures are also ISO9001 quality certified, providing customers with independent assurance of the high quality of the product and service they are buying.

I realise that all of the above may not make any difference to you in terms of your choice of product. Afterall, it is a personal choice of preference. However, I simply wanted to highlight the significant improvements that RICA have made in the last 2 years to address any deficiencies. That is why most RICA customers who have purchased RICA upgrades in the past 2 years have been extemely satisfied with both the quality of the software and the level of service.
