Default cracked head

Hi please help my engine is searching and water is getting into the exhaust and pouring out, ive been told the head or block is cracked, if its the block wouldnt the core plug come out if the block was frozen, she had antifreeze in but was stood for two weeks in very cold weather , would antifreeze settle if the car is not used ? my car is the best a Volvo 1979 244dl 2ltr

possible just the Headgasket has gone between a cyl and water passage.

I'd suspect head gasket - it is possible that the head has corroded (I've seen this quite a lot on early engines -silver top-) and its easily welded back up. At the age your car is it should be a 2.1 silver top. I would take head off and see what the problem is. If you needed another engine I've several low mileage good condition engines available.

when i fitted the later 531 coded head to my b21 i offered the old 160 coded head to the machine shop for free. they turned it down on the case of to much corosion to be worth keeping in stock. it happens.
