I can't believe how long the build times now are.

Either Volvo have a really healthy orderbook, or have really cut back on their manufacturing rates.

When I ordered my first new Volvo (a C30) it was ready in a month. The dealers even drove the car from the docks to the dealership so that it would arrive in time before the old government scrapage scheme came to an end. (those were the days - I got a £5k trade in on a 10 year old Rover 200 that had cost me £250 a few years earlier)

Lead times are madness at the moment across all brands. For one, I am not prepared to wait with such long times as when I decide on a new car I generally expect it within weeks as I can't plan 6-9 months down the road. So when I decided to get an XC90, I shopped around the available new stock and went with the closest to my needs. Delivery was within a week. Generally I can compromise on colour and spec to some extent and so far have yet to be disappointed on two vehicles purchased in the past few months.

I agree with you Ian. However, in this case I wanted specifically a MY23 V60 which was not available before July in any case.
Also I get better deals (discounts) for the new cars compared with the stock ones (which are not so many over here being a small market).
I'm hoping though that the lead time provided was very caution and I get the car earlier than anticipated.
