Default V70 windscreen cracked !!

Large crack starting from top centre down and into passenger side has appeared out of the blue. Was thinking of booking autoglass under insurance etc and just pay excess, but worried i won't get the correct windscreen, as mine has the sunvisor tint at top, does anyone have experience of this and whether they had the correct windscreen level replacement?

Same thing happened on on my 56 plate S60 last year which still had the original screen. I had it replaced through my insurance company and the replacement is identical with the tint at the top.

Dazza95, thanks for that, needed the confidence of a reply like that to go ahead with the Autoglass booking.

I've had a few windscreens on my V70 over the last 8 years and they have all come from different glass fitters and they have all had the tint on

Just another thing to remember,if your car has the auto rain sensors, make sure they work before you leave it with them because if they don't do a good job of sticking the rear view mirror back they may not work as that has the sensor thing incorporated, also when you collect it check that the outer trims on the pillars are firmly fixed because they can break the clips and silicone them back on and they will tell you the clips are not covered by them,oh one last thing to check that the plastic scuttle is correctly seated into the trim at the bottom of the screen.

My last screen was done by Autoglass and they actually supplied a full set of new clips as standard. The clips can easily break off so be warned.

I had purchased a new set just in case they weren't replaced - I got a full refund from the dealer.

Autoglass have been the only ones to replace the clips from memory.

Hi, good point . Mine does have rain sensor etc. They will be doing this at my house so will look closely at that. I have only just removed pillar trims as they were peeling to re-stick the trim, and was thinking of removing them prior to them arriving lol. The scuttle, i think you mean far part of dash up to window is actually a bit 'rattly' on mine so perhaps hasn't been done correctly previously.

Default Windscreen

Just a thought, I inquired about a replacement screen with a glass fitter ( Auto Glass) I think! They informed me the screens they replace are made in China and don't automatically use a OEM Volvo screen. That said, he went on to say if you want a genuine OEM screen it would be in the region of £450 and that was several years ago.

Bon Chance.

I looked at the Autoglass site and it stated OEM spec, so whilst I don't expect Volvo produced i do expect same quality or very similar, will be watching closely when they arrive lol.
