thank you very much for sharing your experience! I bought a 2008 V50 and was woundering about the noise after locking the car via remote control. I found your post by google search. Is it correct that you had "simply" removed the rack with the damaged theets which is responsible for the deadlock? Mine has just started doing this on the passenger side. Is there a fix of spraying some silicone lubricant on the offending part or does it need replacing?

It does occasionally fix the noise for a short while if some grease is applied but it comes back. Its the teeth on the cog in the actual deadlock motor assembly that strip off and cause it to stick. The easiest fix is a new deadlock module which is apparently circa £150 done at a dealer. I have the part i need to replace in the door and will hopefully be replacing the unit next week, so i will stick up a how to when im done.
