Default S40 'engine service required'

Hi all,

Whilst driving yesterday on a dual carriage way my S40 went into some sort of limp mode and displayed 'engine service required'. I was doing around 75mph during an overtake, lost some power and speed, couldn't easily get the car back up to 60. Any ideas as to what could cause this to happen and possible solutions please.

Thanks

John

as above so you dont end up just fitting parts and hope , you will need some fault codes to help you and others to point you to a cause and possible solution

Hi all, just an update, have had in to a garage for a diagnostic read.
The reduced power issue is down to faulty DPF sensors and an empty PAT fluid tank.
The vibration / noise is due the wheel bearing being on its way out.
I'm looking into having these problems sorted in the next few weeks
