Unhappy V70 will not start

Hi
I have a 2001 V70 that will not start while pointing down hill at quite a steep gradient. After levelling up the car it fires first time. My drive is very steep leading to my garage so it's really anoying. Anybody any ideas.

Low on fuel ? weak fuel pump ? fuel filter needs replacing ?

This seems to be intermittant as first time it happened was about quarter full then added a gallon and it worked. Next time about half full and added another gallon but would not start. Maybe fuel pump as you suggest but car is at a 30 degree pitch forward so doesn't fuel travel downhill?

The tank is in two halves and its quite a complicated fuel delivery and return system getting the fuel from the left side to the right side , if a little rubber one way flap valve leaks in the bottom of the fuel pick up bowl it can empty and it relies on fuel flow to move fuel over from the left to the right side .
Dealer will have an answer , probably a new fuel pump / pick up / return assembly in the tank , all one part ...
