Default Identify audio options visually

Ill likely be buying a c30 soon. years 2009-2011 1.6 diesel.

Am i right in saying you can identify the high performance and premium audio options because they have tweeters in the wing mirror covers? Or does the basic performance options have these too?

The premium option is the only option with centre speakers?

Thanks all.

I believe the car will tell you what it has when you turn the radio/cd on.

If basic system it will just be a picture of the car. its its high performance it will say that etc

Thanks, damn it! I noticed the standard audio seems to have tweeters too, so no way to identify which from ebay photos

Don't the ones with the top audio have the big speaker in the centre of the dash?

I think the standard audio has the tweeter housing but with nothing in them! I had seen that people often hook these in as a first port of call.

I have the standard and find it ok, if the rest of the car is good I wouldn't let it put you off.

The base system has tweeters in the doors, the high performance system adds tweeters to the rear speakers

correct. basic = mids in front and rear, tweeters in front (6 speaker total)
high performance, adds tweeters in the rear and a higher powert amplifer. Top spec i think is/was the dyna audio which has centre speaker better amplification etc. Age and system and accesories determine if it has an Aux port or USB in the cubby centre storage.

FYI, I have the basic 6 speaker set up, 2011 car. Aux port. Sound quality is very good. Better than similar age ford/vauxhal offerings. It doesn't 'need' upgrading but there is room for improvement. Dynaudio sounds excellent.

My first C30, a 2009 was fitted with the High Performance system with Aux and USB in the centre console. My second C30, also a 2009 has the base spec system but came with Aux in the centre console. Was surprised by how good the base system sounded.

Yep my reseatch concluded the same, the base level is missing tweeters in the rear, but they arent visible on photos either way. Rear speakers arent important anyway, i have no interest in rear fill.

As for the premium. Some satnav speced vehicles have a speaker grill around it, but they have no dynaudio label on them, so im assuming the grill is empty. However you can get satnav and dynaudio options together according to vida, there are two types of centre speaker with different impedances depending on if you have the satnav or not.

I can believe the base system may sound pretty good, as the woofer can be tuned for the door enclosure. Simply upgrading woofers with more expensive aftermarket ones can actually make the sound much worse. Also Power isnt important because you need 10x the power to reach x2 the perceived volume. so the different between 20w and 40w volumes in negligible, an amp is just an amp. Its the dsp that makes the difference.
