Default Dpf module

Hi .
Although have had numerous Volvo in the past this is my first post.
currently have a 17 plate s60 and a 59 plate c30 se drive e.

Love the latter to bits but it has recently error coded and have discovere that this is a failed DPF dosing module issue.

Volvo service want £818.oo to fix.

Advice required as to whether its OK to carry on using it in the short term, or even to ignore the issue altogether. Iv'e been told (Volvo dealer techi ) that as long as I "give it a long run and get it hot" then it should be OK" ( presumably as this will burn the deposits away).

Not sure about this though and don't want to screw the cat completely.

Although its old it's in good nick, has only just turned 70 k miles , has had a new cam-belt, been dealer serviced since new and as I say love it to bits (best car I've ever owned in fact)
So if needs be I'll bite the bullet and spend the Money. Just need advice as to whether its OK to continue driving at the moment or is the techie advice true.
Incidentally the error code has cleared and the performance has not noticeably reduced.

Thanks in advance.

If you do nothing the DPF will just clog up as it will not regenerate ... the DPF must be changed at the 75000 mile service as well ... what is faulty , the additive tank sensor or the additive control module at the back?

Hi and thanks for the reply.

Its the module thats gone- looks like its melted- but they tell me the tank is damaged as well. so guess its module and sensor.

so if it would need to be changed at 75 k anyway then only logical action is get the work done.

is it driveable in the meantime?

Thanks again. Clan

check the history , has the DFP been replaced recently? It might recover if so , but they are a service item on the 75000 mile service .... the more you drive it the more soot the DPF collects and the less likely you can recover it .
you could get a used Additive tank perhaps to save costs .. But even then it could be 10+ years old .

Hi Clan,

I bought it from new so to my knowledge no it hasn't had any Dpf work done. It's Been serviced since new by the original dealer it was bought from. Should the additive level been checked as part of the annual service program?

Regardless, have checked the value of the car - i'd be lucky to get 1500 for it with the problem so, as in all other respects its a great little car I'm going to spend the money and keep her.

Thanks for your help.

best regards
Esderjay.

That is good news .. The additive is topped up at the 36000 and 72000 mile service , the DPF should be changed at the 72000 mile service , Hopefully the dealer did the diagnosis so you know where you are now .
