Hi Terry

Yes, a mystery.

So if you turn the car off and then start it again, do the lights go off and then maybe you get 195 miles again before they come back?

Steve

Every restart will extinguish the lights. How far it go varies. I've been keeping a diary. The distances are usually more than one journey - not all in one go. I can't see a pattern.

Terry

05/04/19 At 8 miles oil and ETM lit up. Went off on restart. Happened again about 6 miles later.
07/04/19 At 12 miles. Both lights on again. Extinguished on restart.
18/04/19 Cleaned earth connections ETM to block and block to body.
30/04/19 At 65 miles ETM and Oil lights on. Extinguished on restart.
08/05/19 At 24 miles. Lights on. Two restarts and still on. Longer stop of 4 min and lights off.
22/05/19 At 60 miles. Lights on. Extinguished after restart.
07/06/19 At 195 mile both lights on. Even though oil sensor wire disconnected. extinguished on restart.

Hi Terry

You have said before that no codes were stored.

Maybe they are transient and cleared by the restart.

Are you able to leave the code reader connected and see if any codes are stored when the lights come on (before you turn off and before a restart)?

It would be very difficult. The reader has to be attached to a laptop. Having that wired up every trip would be awkward.

Still on my mind is the fact that there is no power going to the oil pressure sensor. I am assuming it would be a full 12 volts but maybe not.

Maybe I should chat to my local garage to see if they might have disturbed something without realising it at the time they had it.

You don't know there's no voltage on the oil pressure sensor wire, you just know there's not enough power to light a bulb, which is a very "blunt instrument" if I may say so. Get a meter on it, set to the 20v range, and you'll know for sure.

You're right. The meter shows 11.2v.
