HELP!! Child seat query
Hi guys..
Sorry to introduce myself with a call for help, but I'm in a bit of a mess. I recently bought a T reg volvo V40 (after a kid wrote off my Ford Focus) as I was pregnant and wanted the safest car I could. My little guy was born four and a half months ago, and he's enormous, which means that he's only got about an inch left in his infant carrier before I have to put him in a combination seat (one that is both rear and forward facing.) My problem is that none of them fit the V40.. I've had three Mothercare assistants with puzzled expressions trying to fit a total of four different seats in the car, and not one works. I can't afford to buy a seat from Volvo and I'm really thinking that I might have to sell the car if I can't resolve it. Does anyone know which seats might fit the car (if any) or has anyone had the same experience?? Cheers T x |

Multi purpose
I would have thought that baby seats from Boots, Mothercare, etc had universal fittings for all cars. I can't understand why your front seat belts would not secure an infants seat. The belts in my V70 are the same as in any vehicle. What part of the seat or belt is giving you problems?

Hi, I work for Social Services so have car seats in the car all the time. I have an S80 and find where all seats fitted in the back of my Pug 406, they are now not long enough in the S80. Try to get a seat that you can remove the base from so the belt holds the base in permenantly and the seat clips into that.

Is that a phase 1?
If so, we've had all our seats in the S40 at one time or another, five in all. They've all been Britax. What's more, we've managed three abreast on the rear seat. From experience, Mothercare weren't the best at getting seats to fit. If it comes to it, Britax used to do a belt, which you fitted to the existing seat belt mounts but was long enough to secure any of the seats in the range. We had one in the 340. Give Britax a call. Their helpline is very good.

http://www.volvocars.co.uk/models/Accessories/C70/ the back rest and booster cushion I am looking at. My twin daughters are luvving theirs and now the nearly 4yr old is up foir hers. Agreed Britax are great. They were very helpful post xc90 crash and convinced insurers to cough up for their seats based on the evidence of car seats must be replaced after a crash
