No question asked where I got the car from although I bet they know as the plate and road tax holder says where the car is coming from. If something goes very wrong (nothing so far touch wood), the supplying dealer is not that far anyway and their sales guy is the BEST guy I ever dealt with in this industry (quite a shody one I admit) Anyway, bottom line, I would not give the local dealer £1 more than drivethedeal. |

I agree. The dealer should be matching, if not beating the DTD price to secure the purchase. I wouldn't pay any more.

Built a fully load exclusive on DTD and it gave me a £11,000+ discount. Called my local Volvo dealer as I've purchased 2 new Volvo's off them over the last 2 years and they said they counldn't even get close to the DTD price. Salesman told me they don't know how they do it.......

I got exactly the same... it is impossible, I do not know how they do it .. from Hemel Hampstead only to read that another forum user got them to match DTD. I obviously looked like someone who would pay more ... I also had a part ex and I bet the guy thought I could not off load my car with DTD.. Well, I sold it privatly. |

Remember dtd get paid a commission so a main dealer should be able to BEAT it.
Presumably the dealers get volume discounts/kickbacks/bountys/bonuses and I suppose your dealer sells so few cars they don't qualify-or they're lying! |

When I bought in spring 2009, I had been dealing with a North of England dealer directly. When I mentioned DTD and Dealdrivers, I think they knew I was not going to accept their standard offer (esp as I think one of the brokers used them as the supplying dealer!). After some brinkmanship (when they told me they could not compete on price and I said godbye), a phone call a few hours later from them offering to match the broker's price was enough for me to sign on the doted line. The final thing that swung it was a PX (over the phone) which was better than I could get elsewhere.
Bottom line is, if they want the business, they will do the deal; if not, there are others that will oblige. |
