Deleted as much of the duplicate as possible.

Sometimes you see one come up on E-bay.

Getting a gearbox bell or conversion ring is the main problem.

I'm sure I came accross another conversion company recently.

But as much as I'm a Diesel fanatic! With the price of Diesel & the work that is involved L.P.G. is a lot easier option.

40 M.P.G. Ha, Ha. I drove like a boring old man for a week over 5yrs ago (probably nearer 10) 16 mile runs not in heavy traffic, doing no more than 50 on the dual carriageway etc.
For a week & got to the dizzy heights of 38 M.P.G. out of a 1990 740TD Manual.
I dont think I could get that out of my 94 940 D24TIC Auto! it would be to painful trying anyway

Regards Paul.
I had a best of 42mpg from my 940 TD auto on a run from London to Edingurgh. I kept close to the speed limit though. Cruising between 80 and 90 gave 38 mpg.

Roy

P.S. Weird it just posted twice for some reason.

Well Norwich to Motherwell bringing the brick home and not driving hard but not driving like an old man either and sticking to 'most' of the speed limits in quiet open road conditions mostly Dual Carriageway with some Motorway and nice 'hard' tyres 38 MPG was all we got i was expecting hoping for 40/45. I think someone has tweaked the fuel setting on the IP as it looks like a Vulcan on a take off run when you give it some serious welly but it has been too cold and i have been too busy to get under the bonnet and have a look see in a big way.

regards

Starting to believe that maybe I can get 40MPG but I've never done it yet. Must get that electric fan. Don't think either of mine have been running rich. Only had the D24TIC about a month.

Default Not roasted... but stuffed.

Well at last I managed it 42.3 mpg on a trip to Ireland. 874 from a tank plus a 30 litre splash and dash on the way home. "Dash" not really the operative word on this trip as the vehicle was full to the roof on the way over. Two beds, one a metal disability affair with motors and substantial headboards plus overbed, shower seat plus fixings, drill and all the usual presents and luggage. One overweight middle aged driver, one medium sized oriental and three smaller passengers completed the load which must have been at least half a tonne. I'm sure there have been many heavier loads carried in an estate but this one was crammed. The main reason for the economy despite the weight was that speed was only 60, plus the fact that about 450 miles to Holyhead via Chepstow was done in one go. You wouuld never get anhwhere near that on a commute, nor of course with an auto box.
Anyway I feel that I've got something out of my system on the efficiency front... next it's a year for "pushing the performance envelope".

wow! you did have it packed full!, where did the furry creatures get stuffed? in the glove box?

I tend to get around 38-40mpg, most of which is A roads and motorway and then the dreaded bottom of the M11 and into docklands. On the trips home I have to suffer with the end of the M11/start of A14.
I think I'll be doing a week of nights soon and I'll keep the speed to 60-70 and see what the best I can get is.

Regards

My 42 mpg was London to Edinburgh without a stop.
