Default Rattling noise

For the last month I've had a rattling noise which has progressively got worse. If I accelerate upto 70mph and release acceleration there is a really bad rattle noise the moment deceleration starts, if I pop cruise on at 65-70 mph and it rattles slightly then settles at a constant speed, the moment I flick cruise off the noise returns. ARB bushes and droplinks are all good as i checked these.

Any ideas on where I check next?

Cheers Dean

Wastegate actuator rod/linkage thingy on the turbo will rattle on deacceleration if it is worn.

Is it a metallic rattle or what? A recording of it would be great

I originally thought it was the nut on the worn stud I had but that's sorted (thanks again Alex) now. You can feel a slight vibration through the resting foot space which would eliminate the first 2 suggestions. Its not a metalic sound but more of a rumbling rattle if that makes sense. I'll try get a recording when back at work tomorrow but it may be hard to hear.

Thanks for the suggestions guys

Got a recording but tbh the quality is pants and you can't really hear it. It sounds like the drop links have gone when going over uneven surfaces, so unless I ain't checked the drop link properly then im lost.

I've got a similar rattle on mine, mine is the wastegate actuator rod, I can confirm this as I have help the rod while a mate rev'd the engine and the rattle stopped.

I've been told that I need to adjust the rod, which I can do but I've been advised to fit a boost gauge first which I am going to do.

After reading a post by 960kg about squeezing the cv joint boot I gave it a quick go this morning before work and the rattle has greatly reduced , so to my next question, is it as simple as removing the clips around each end of the boot, greasing the joint up and putting it back together? Thought this would be worth a shot first.

The squeezing of the boot must have been coincidence as I still have the noise but still not as bad, however when I now turn right I get a 'CLONK' then all is quiet again. It literally is one clonk then nothing until the next right turn. Would this be pointing to the lower ball joint in the wish bone? it is coming from the O/S.
