There is a known issue with squeaks from 2nd row seats, if that's what you're experiencing. Dealers know about it, and they applied a fix to my car recently to address that.

I find that the middle row outer seat belts invariably do not retract strong enough and the buckle is left facing the hard plastic door posts and rattle, I have lost count of the number of times I have had to stop after dropping passengers off to turn the seat belt to stop it rattling. There is a loop on one side of the belt that cussions the buckle if it retracts properly, the Mark 1 XC90 had soft cussioned door posts so this problem did not arise, or at least it never rattled, its a shame they do not build them like that any more.

I just turn up the radio until I get to work then sort it out. Or invariably forget and then turn up radio on way home too! But radio 4 is all doom and gloom and there is only so much I can take so will have to find another way of tuning out of the rattles!

Might resort to sticking carpet on the door posts. A nice bit of Axminster or Wilton, big leaf pattern.

I've been chasing a rattle in my 19 XC90 and figured out the source of mine. The stock three piece plastic mat that came with the car makes all kinds of noise especially in the cold weather. Most notably on the right side where there is a little plastic holder. I just replaced it with the carpet mat, a little expensive but so was the XC90 and my sanity is worth the price. The car is as quite as I expect something of this quality to be. I have removed all the towels and pieces of foam that I thought were dampening the sounds. Hope this is helpful to others with OCD about rattles.
