Default XC 90 Vibration at 50mph

I have a 2016 XC90 Inscription on air suspension which has developed a vibration at 50 mph . I had 2 new tyres fitted on the front last year could it be a wheel balance or something more expensive ?

I'd certainly be checking the tyres/wheels first - have you lost one of the weights? get em checked/balanced at a tyre place and see whether that makes a difference first before worrying about anything else

Could be quite simply that you’ve lost wheel weights in the cold and bad weather, it’s the simplest and cheapest first line of investigation

Haha. Currently sat in the waiting room getting the balance checked on my car after meeting a pothole the other day. Tyres look okay but why oh why are we obsessed with zero-profile tyres these days?

Fingers crossed (for you and me!) that it is just balancing.

If you use a pressure washer to clean the wheels it is easy to dislodge a balance weight, ask me how I know.

I too developed a vibration on the steering wheel at 50mph - I thought it would just be the wheels out of balance and it was. It only cost £12 for both at my local tyre station and it cured it immediately. I hope yours is something as straightforward.

Unfortunately I need a new wheel after my incident with the pothole. It's no longer perfectly round (never a good sign for a wheel ...) and made the balancing machine wobble quite impressively. Slightly tempted to keep the old wheel and make a coffee table out of it - the doink was inboard.

I briefly thought about replacing all four wheels with ones an inch smaller for a bit more sidewall but decided an extra centimetre-and-a-bit wasn't really worth buying 4 new wheels and tyres.

Do you remember anything happening before you started getting the vibration?

Any reason why you just got the front wheels balanced? I figured that seeing as the car was going to be up on the lift I might as well get them to do all four. (Thumbs up to ATS Euromaster in Bletchley, by the way, for fitting me in the same day I rang.)
