Yeah they are breakers but the parts sold were described as b/new along with the clutch and pressure plate.. I also checked two different times if they were new parts and both times come back with a positive answer.

That is what has annoyed me the most is that they didn't go back over their original work and instead opted to go for a new route to find the problem. You've hit the nail on the head 'after all they are being paid for a service - not just to guess at the customers expense'. If we went on that then it would be a money pit just chucking money at it left, right and centre till the problem was fixed!!

Day 3

They now want to change the pipe between the master and slave cylinder now after the phone call at 9 o'****. Have heard nothing from them all day so who knows. But I think I can see a pattern forming, where by the pipe wont work so they will then want to change the slave and if that doesnt work then the pressure plate and then DMF untill the whole lot has been changed or till the problem has gone......? I'd put my house on it that thats whats going to happen or should I say 'they' want to happen!!!

Angry isnt the word ATM!!!

UPDATE:

The car went back today and the box off. Turns out the DMF was at fault at its max play and tilt... Due to that the clutch plate and pressure plate are also being replaced due to damage caused. Not happy and seeing they are genuine parts that were suposidly new.... Volvo will be getting a bashing once the car is back and I have the parts to present to them!!

That is really unfortunate there Venom, how much is all this extra work going to set you back? I hope you get a recompense from Volvo in some way.

Is there any chance that this has all happened due to ill fitment as opposed to part failure?

Aprox £700+ but not sure if thats including the £341 outstanding already? I really cant see it being ill fitment as they have done an S40 before and at the end of the day its a clutch system thats been around for donkeys Cant see what could possibly go wrong with fitting a clutch? Of course it is possibly but if that was to happen from a garage then they need to sack their mechanics or close down really...
