Default Clutch Pedal Sticking...?

I have an inconsistent problem here where sometimes the clutch pedal will stick half way. When it sticks you can feel the pedal have no resistance until the hydraulic stage of the clutch and then when you release it, it stick half way and need to use my foot under the pedal to pull it back up. Then you can go for a few more changes and its back to normal and then all of a sudden the spring resistance feels like it goes and then sticks when you release it again.

All while this is going on the clutch and mechanical things are working fine, the clutch engages and disengages and all gears are selected as smoothly as they should be.

The system was also bled this morning and to be fair a fair bit of air was extracted but just 3 gear changes down the road the problem was still there? I don't thing its something that is going to fail all together as its so inconsistent?

Anyone else had this or know what else it could be? I had the clutch, DMF and slave all changed about a month ago and all has been fine un until yesterday morning and there doesn't seem to be any leaks in the system as the fluid level stays the same....??

If you have a T5 (which I assume, as you have an ST intercooler), you might be suffering from the clutch cylinder issue, Volvo had in the States, where the clutch pedal will at first stick a little, then more and more, untill it doesn't come up anymore...

I'm not sure how they solved the problems. I think it was either a new clutch cylinder or a stronge spring on the pedal.

Is that the same as the recent safety recall to replace a cylinder with a plastic rod by one with a metal rod ?

I had exactly the same problem with my 2005 S60R. I was told by my local Volvo dealer (Johnsons Gloucester ) that it was the internal clutch slave cylinder. At great expense they changed it only to find it did not fix it. They then changed the clutch master cylinder which fixed the problem. This was about four years ago and touch wood it's still ok.

That sounds like it! I couldn't remember what it exactly was, but that sounds more like it!

No mine is a 2.0D. I asked about the recall as mine is a 2008 car and the dealers (again Johnosons Gloucester) said that mine didnt need the recall? I may got and kick up a fuss tomorrow and see where I get but have a feeling they wont want to entertain the idea as last time I went in there with the headlight recall of the failed plastic, I was told that I had no chance of getting it done.....

These kind of things I want to know how to go over their heads if they say no?

Mine is also a 2.0d and 2008 model (Oct) and did get a recall notice for the clutch master cylinder 'fault'.

I think I'll take it to the garage where I got the clutch and DMF changed and see if they can prove its nothing that they have done and then go to Volvo and ask about this recall.

I've had a similar experience with my 1.8i
Now and then the clutch pedal seems to stick halfway up.

Is the a symptom for the recall?
