Now and then the clutch pedal seems to stick halfway up.

Is the a symptom for the recall?
Not really, as the recall only really affected the 6 speeds (MMT6 and M66) and not 5 speeds (MTX75, M56, IB5).

So it won't be a recall thing, as the clutch cylinder etc. is different.

Taking it down to the garage where I got the clutch done tomorrow morning just so they can check their work over. I doubt anything will be found as the fluid level is the same so cant see there being any leaks in the system. Then I'll head down to Vovlo and see what they have to say on the mater?

Ok, so just got off the phone to the garage and they seem to think its the master cylinder that has failed...? I've told them to go ahead with the work so we shall see if that fixes the problem?

Where? Johnsons or where you had the clutch replaced.

Where I had the clutch replaced. Starting to loose faith in Johnsons', Since I tried getting my headlight lenses raplced as they were cracking, I've taken my business elsewhere....

Good for you. Johnsons wrongly diagnosed my clutch problem. It cost me £870 for them to change the clutch slave cylinder, they said it needed changing as it was leaking anyway. I pointed out that I haven't topped up the brake fluid in the past year so in my opinion they carried out unnessary work. When I asked for the slave cylinder, they said that it had been binned. Total bill with clutch master cylinder was £970.

I lost faith in Johnsons since that day & will never take my car back there. A bit of a trek but mine goes to MRG Volvo Chippenham now.

Well the saga goes on. The garage changed the master cylinder only to find the problem is still there..... By this point is was gone 5:30 and my mate had just finished on the car and just giving me an update. I've not got to ring the garage in the morning and there is no way I'm paying £130+ for a new master cylinder when my last one was perfectly fine!!

They now seem to think its the DMF that was fitted? God only know why they didn't systematically go through the work carried out previous and instead going to the first simpler answer of the master cylinder??

I've dug out the receipt from Preston Volvo Centre (http://www.volvobreakers.co.uk/) and it was a new part so fingers crossed either this place in Preston or Volvo dealers down here will take the part as being a genuine part (which it is) trace the serial number and exchange with a new one after only a months use I've very disappointed in Volvo genuine parts now....

We have Fishers, Gloucester which is a Volvo Specialist but I will look into the Chippenham one too now.

Are you sure that it was a new DMF last time round? A month of use on a new and genuine DMF has got to be absolutely unheard of?

Preston Volvo Centre is a breakers is it not? Not so sure they would carry B/New items and especially items such as DMFs, one out of another vehicle yeah definitely but B/New??

I hope you get it sorted soon, I know I'd be absolutely fuming and frothing at the mouth if it had happened to me. I'm completely with you and wouldn't be paying for the garages naff diagnostic of changing a perfectly good part, after all they are being paid for a service - not just to guess at the customers expense.

Fingers crossed for a good outcome, I don't think this has anything to do with genuine parts though. Perhaps ill fitment of parts??
