I don't have a picture, sorry. They are only 0.5" wider and sit in very slightly more so its probably about the same poke but I could fit a 5mm spacer in and use the same studs which would improve things.

My next plan was to get the rear wheels banded by at least 1", the wheel arches would take it very easily (I reckon I could fit my head in there at the moment and mines lowered!)

People go on about rubbing wheels but the 940 wheel arches are massive. 8" wouldn't be an issue. On the front you have to make sure they don't go in too far as the wheels can rub on the struts, hence why I needed a 5mm spacer.

Beware that if you lower the car then the axle moves to one side due to the design of the suspension, you'd need to fit an adjustable panhard rod so you can re-centre the wheels. Mine is lowered 40mm and its not an issue with my wheels. I've got 205/50r17 tyres on BTW which maintains the original wheel diameter and therefore speedo accuracy.

It was a right pain finding 4 C6 steels as they only made 800 or so C6's in the UK and they only steel wheel was the spare! I bought them over a few months from various sources, all of them new or pretty much new, then I had them powdercoated silver.

My wheels may be for sale soon anyway as I'm selling my car.

Thanks Rob, I've got that (and other) websites bookmarked and I'm not new to the game either, its just this model seems to be problematic/awkward.
In the past I've had centre bores machined out, fitted spigot rings etc but never had to fit a Panhard rod. Is that for extreme lowering ?
Send me a PM regarding your wheels would you ? Minus 2.4 speedo error is within tolerance I guess....
One final thing, mines a '91 and yours a '97. Any issues you foresee ?

Well you're not going to have any issues with those are you, as they are the same offset !
We're discussing moving to other alloys with different offsets and the need for spacers in that instance.
I was hoping for a few others to show examples of other wheels fitted to 940s and how it was achieved, for comparison, for options....

Finally! That was the point i was trying to make when i suggested using Volvo 17" alloys! They are a problem to find wheels for and there's not much else that fits.

Let's try and salvage this thread.

These wheels are Eiker E1, 17x7.5 ET20 5x108. Bolt on, no rubbing issues, although this owner reports ever so slight rubbing on the back with 225/45 tyres.







Using the Jag alloys I posted earlier, those are X300/XJR 17x8 ET33 5x120, and what looks like 215/40 tyres. So in order to get them in the same ballpark you would need 20mm adapters.

So with those Jag wheels, theres an adapter required to go from 108 to 120, is that right ?

Yah. Adapters change the bolt pattern or 'PCD' (and also space out the wheel obviously). Spacers just space out the wheel leaving the bolt pattern the same.
