GLT Straw poll.
If I said 1988 manual GLT to you, suggesting a 200 series would you think fuel injected or carburetor and how confident would you be in your choice.

I've only come across GLTs with fuel injection. If carb I would suspect an engine or fuel system swap.

.............or maybe it was a GLE. It didnt have leather seats or alloys. Looked more like a GL to me, but the log book and the badge said differently.

Assuming the car ia an unaltered standard UK spec GLT then it will be injection.
B230E (K-Jetronic injection). It'll also have black trim on the window surrounds, black grille, 5spoke 15" alloys (Virgos), Leccy windows and mirrors, Central Locking, PAS, Leather seats. |

LankyTim: That can't have been a GLT.
GLTs had the B230E, Virgo alloys and leather seats.

I have also seen a number of 240's which don't appear to be quite right - Torslanda's with no roof rails (with no evidence of there ever having been) are a typical example.

It was a GLE then. I remember looking for the GLE "bits" that I expected it to have and it just had electric windows in the back I think. It had steel wheels, cloth seats and was on a carb. I thought someone had put the wrong badge on it until I saw the log book. In my mind it was simply a GL!
Ignore me, i think im confusing myself ! |

There is a local GLT that is still serviced at our local dealer where it was bought. I had a similar confution with it as it is badged up as a GLT But it did not have the Virgo's it was on steel wheels and also no leather. I asked the master mechnic bout it one day and he exsplained that he was present when the car was sold to it's only owner and he requested the cloth trim and also that he did not want the alloy wheels due to the extra exspense of the tyre's that they required.
I was also under the impression all GLT's were injection. |
