Maybe when I've got an idle evening I'll try to go back through my car history and see if I can find the bhp figures.
I was wondering about bhp the other day when considering electric vehicles, watching the TV series Vintage Voltage they are putting electric motors in old cars but they seem to delight in upping the power by using the Tesla powertrain into little old cars, from a quick search even the Nissan Leaf would seem to be not much less powerful than my V70, although it's difficult to compare as the figures are in PS* or kW and the low revs torque of an electric would give it much better acceleration from a standing start.

*although for quick comparison 1PS is about 1bhp

Very true this, I went from a 240bhp Impreza to a 120bhp Vectra Diesel and absolutely hated it. So I have since always tried to increase bhp on my next purchase or buy a lighter car.

When I got to the RB 320 I discovered that power wasn't everything. So fast, yet so inert until way, way beyond goodbye licence territory. I've had no desire to chase power since. In many respects the best all-round car I have had was the Trophy at sub 200.

OK, because I'm supposed to be doing something more useful, I shall instead do this 'cos it looks like more fun than the productive thing.
Besides it won't take me long ...

I'll use the power ratings when new, by the time I owned most of these things I suspect quite a few of the horses had bolted ... anyhoo, in ownership order:

1976 Corolla SE 55hp (but it was ToyoGlide so felt like less!)
1980 Corolla CS Wagon 59hp
1986 Corolla Twin Cam 120hp
1971 Escort 1300XL 61hp (more like ~30hp IMHO)
1992 Legacy RS 200hp
1980 242GT 140hp
1982 244GLE 133hp
1995 Holden Commodore Berlina 200hp
1980 242GT ~225hp
2015 Holden Commodore SS-V Redline SportWagon 350hp
