Usually faulty fuel filler cap switch or DPF additive sensor - what model is the car?
You need to connect to vida (volvo's in house diagnostics) for more specific info, either a good independant equipped with the software and lead or the dealer. see below for info from VL overview

DPF or Mil Light
Causes
Possible causes of OBD code P2584
• Fuel additive system malfunction • Fuel additive level sensor malfunction • Fuel additive control module malfunction

Hope that helps

It will probably need additive top up.

Did this message come up immediately after filling up with fuel.?

If so then this is probably fault.

Next question that should be considered is whether car has full Volvo history.

If not serviced by Volvo agent then may not have been topped up.

Tis at the rear under the bumper I do believe. Do a search on DPF issues on thee forum and you will find a lot of info about this. Also check if your car has a Diesel Particulate Filter fitted. You ca do this by checking the VIN number.
Cant remember the ins and outs of it but again a quick search will give you the info.
Hope this helps.
