Default 2.0 D - hissing noise kicking in @ 3K revs.

Hi all,

I seem to have an issue with my Volvo V50. I have noticed when the car is getting to around the 2.8K-3K the cars seem's to make a blow-off noise and feel flat.

The turbo is kicking as normal, no boost issue, bar this issue when it seems to make the above noise (in all gears) the car seem's to be a bit laggy & hesitant low down in the revs (shudders at certain points)

Has anyone experience this before? I am going to check the intake system tonight a long with the exhaust for any leaks.

Thanks,

Matt

Mine did this. Under hard acceleration you hear a whistle mid-way through. It was a loose screw on the intake manifold.

Look at the front of the engine, the intercooler hoses (left and right) join the centre section of the engine via a "Y" shaped plastic bit.

There are three Torx 25 screws that bold the Y connector black plastic section ontop of the engine.

The 3rd screw is underneath the pipes, and this needs tightening up (NOT TOO TIGHT though). There was a slight oily film on and around the screw, whereas the other two screws were clean.

Bit tricky to get the screwdriver in there. I ended up using a socket wrench and connecting the torx 25 bit to it via a 2 socket reducers.
