235 tyres on the back sounds pretty meaty - how much clearance is there off the inner arch lip, or are you tweaking that? I only just have clearance with 205/65R15 (also correct rolling radius) on 7.5J wheels! Also, you'll probably find that the standard mud flaps look somewhat comical - on my car, they only cover about 2/3rds of the back tyres... Must get around to modifying some wider ones to look like the factory items.

Really looking forward to reading more on this project

As my wheels have 42mm offset, the extra width of the 235 is accomadated on the inside edge. If your 205/65's are on a standard 25mm offset then my 235 will have 2mm more clearance than you have now. If it is a problem i will get the lip rolled. I have to be carefull of rubbing the radius arms (torque rods?). However i am fabricating new tubular radius arms and i can offset the tube by 5mm to gain some room.

Mark - I wouldn't worry too much about your version. We run the "worst" version of MS, and it works just fine for us.

cheers

Not sure what the offset is, but the backspacing is pretty much the same as the steels. Here's a pic showing the position in the arches - the tyre is a 205/70 though, which was too big, but were on the wheels when I bought them.

Default Big Brakes

Just a quick taster of my big brakes. The discs are Range Rover Sport 317mm diameter, 30mm wide vented. The calipers are Porsche 911/996 4 pot Brembo's. The discs need re-drilling 108 PCD. I am going to do away with the servo. May have to play around with master cylinder bore diameter to get correct feel.I dont think i will be underbraked! Details to follow

Yup, that'll do The joy of having so many lard-arsed cars around now is that we get cheap big brake kits for older lighter cars

cheers

Wow, loving this project, it's so nice to see someone using the original engine and updating it rather than just dropping a whole new modern lump in.

Sexy brakes... very nice!

I put a Wilwood m/c and balance bar pedal box on my V8 Scimitar (removed the servo) and it was great.

Quick update on the Brembo brake conversion.

I have machined these caliper mounting brackets from 50mm sq aluminium bar.
The brackets fasten to the original caliper mounts using the original bolts and the calipers fasten to the brackets using the Porsche mounting bolts.

Hi Oilline,
Love the conversion, really good to see a novel approach to a conversion.
Just caught up on your wheel postings and i have one comment...do you have any fouling on full lock with your fronts, even with the 25mm spacer? I had real probs with some 8" cragars with a 4.25" backspace (offset 6mm) and just about got away with a 10mm spacer?
Just something that crossed my mind.
