Don't have the part numbers to hand but no reason not to use the Volvo plugs.

Hi Pacman

Iridium plugs a complete waste of time with LPG I'm afraid - it needs to be bog standard Denso copper-core single pin plugs, or something similar. Good news is they're cheap as chips.

You could try reducing the gap by 0.1mm.

But don' forget all the other ignition electricals too, and the leads. LPG is very unforgiving of any ignition weaknesses.

If still stuck then Autogas 2000 at Thirsk would come very very highly recommended. Ask for Chris or John.

Oh and on cold mornings, if your gas regulator isn't well supplied with hot water then you do run the risk of the gas not vaporising properly, so get that checked.

That loose pipe that doesn't carry gas or water sounds interesting. Where does it go and how big a diameter?

Cheers

Jack

Doing a search I came across gsf selling a beru plug for my model, it's description says lpg under fuel and a plug gap of 0.7, is this more suitable as I can't seem to find a denso copper plug.

Pop them in. leave the gap as is and see how it goes. If there are still problems then try closing the gap up by 0.1mm

Cheers

Fitted the Denso plugs today, and sadly the engine ran very rough on gas. All the removed plugs were grey except cylinder 3 which was a little sooty. I delved further back to previous issues around what i now believe is the unit that warms the lpg with the cars coolant. this unit has been a persistent cause of water leaks and loose/ badly fitting pipework. I re examined one pipe which i traced to a filter type unit with one pipe in and two out feeding the two banks of injectors. the pipe that comes from the heating unit to this filter is a poor fit out of the heating unit, the pipe is a much larger diameter than the copper flange it fits onto, and the jubilee compresses it a lot. Ive cut this back and remade it and refitted, and the lumpy tick over seems to have gone, wonder if this was leaking, as theres always been a strange odour from around that area of the car especially after a good run.
I will try and get some pictures up if i can, and see how she runs.

Sounds like your LPG pipework is very suspect indeed!

That pipe you've refitted I reckon supplied re-vapourised gas to the solenoids/gas injectors. If that was leaking no wonder you had poor running, and no wonder you had a bad smell! I wish you'd mentioned that before.

If you're not really sure about what you're doing when it comes to LPG then I'd very very strongly recommend that you stop running on gas and get the car to Autogas 2000 as soon as you can, and certainly before you run on gas again.

Having LPG vapour wafting around under the bonnet is not good - it is highly flammable after all.

If that much of the installation is suspect then the whole system really needs a thorough check over. For the sake of an hour's labour charge it's got to be the only sensible course of action.

I'd vouch 100% for Autogas 2000. They will look after you and make sure that your car is running safely and properly.

Cheers

Thanks Jack, i,m getting it in to Mickleton, near me, they are a long established LPG specialist and converters. Your right Gas under the bonnet is crazy. With the water leaking onto hot engine, that has always been associated with the odour. I did try tracking down the lpg installers, when i google the name on the certificate, the garage i spoke to dont know the name and signature ?
Got as far as a company in wales i think.
