Default Spoiler brake VLED replacement/fix

S40 1.8 petrol auto 1.8 X reg

Spoiler Brake VLED light not working

Car passed MOT today - yeah!
However I noticed the brake light on the spoiler was not working - may not have done for some time. I tried to unscrew to investigate but it seems to be a module.
Valeo MSD BL 12 VLED 24200002

I cannot find any on ebay/internet. Is there a replacement?

I have searched this forum - not found any hints hence new thread.

Default s40 spoiler light- not connected

Once I removed the boot upper liner I discovered the light had never been wired up. Just a looped wire tied up - so I have reattached everything and decided to forget about it. Purely cosmetic anyhow.

This is the first time I have ever seen anything like this on an S40. Is it a genuine bit, or aftermarket?

Default S40 spoiler

The car was bought from Volvo - then they added this on before delivery.

Not sure why they never wired it up - not sure how to myself. It was my Dads car - I never noticed the light before.

Found this on the spoiler

It looks like it's aftermarket, as it hasn't got a Volvo part number. A cool aftermarket feature may I add

Default s40 brake LED spoiler bodge wired up

OK - I have bodged this - but I cannot really see a better option - other than making my connections more permanent.

The LED lead back into the boot lid and has a long cable. The exisiting cables go through a grommit and a thinnish cable/conduit on the left side to the electrics at the back of the rearlights etc. No room to squeeze in there so I just ran it through flapping in the wind past liner to boot then taped in to back of wiring loom.

I really have just bodged this at moment so don't get to upset. I wanted to see what it looked like and what my options were.
I have just slipped the red wire into the rear of the brake light junction and the black is attached to the earthing point/bolt already used by existing wiring. All just lecci taped at present.

Pictures speak loader than words - well its not a great picture...
