1969 122S out of Durban factory
Hi, I’m the new lucky custodian of a Durban built 1969 122S in the light sand colour. Having read up a little online about the build history this could be towards the end of production for this car is SA. Can anyone shed any light on it for me?
No SA history except it’s in great shape (usual bumps in the road to get over like no stat, brake pipes corroded, heater box seized) but otherwise a very tidy example. I have SA Reg number but it has since been registered with Dvla and now has uk plates. |

Welcome to Forums, and to ownership of an SA-assembled Amazon. I used to own a Jo'berg assembled Volvo 164, and its surprising how many small differences there are.
Any chance of a pic or two of your new love please, and tell us how you managed to get it here - a tad expensive me-thinks! Mine was shipped in a container by the previous owner. Paul |

Hey Paul, this was imported by a new pal who has done it a few times with various vehicles. He had plans of keeping it but already owns 2 amazons and a 3rd was one too many.
Might take me a while to sus this forum tooling out as I’m a newby but it can be seen here... I’ve got plans to do a modest lowering of 25mm-40mm but at a grand it’s a little way off! |

Hi natedog, the batterie isn't fixed in any way??
Dangerous. Good luck, I own a Amazon from SA too, and a 164 even too. The 164 get scrapped because of a worst workshop who destroyed the car. If it would be a Porsche it wouldn't scrapped. Where s the black stuff in the driverside neary the hinge for? Regards, Kay |

@Natedog
You may have one of the last ones, but, unfortunately, not THE last one. There are lots of people who will want to know what's happened to it. See: http://www.wheels24.co.za/News/Class...in-sa-20160905 |

Cheers si, wasn’t sure...strange thing is I have nothing stamped on the data badge. Having looked on forums it seems the data label would indicate interior colours among other usefull things. But apart from the standard titles like name, etc I haven’t got any specific info relating to my motor! I’ll keep looking. Could just be lazy factroyvstabdeda but I wonder how it got in the road without that info being there?! I’ll do my best to get it around shows and let people see it. I’ll be up goodwood this year if anyone’s about.
