That was easy
Yesterday morning drove to work parked up and all was normal, went to the car last night to return home started up and noticed bulb failure light stayed on,so before setting off got out and checked and yes near side front drl [which of course is the dipped beam bulb also]had blownAnyway got new bulb today[Hella]and did the swap. How pleasant it was to do,nothing to move out of the way to get to back of light unit,no need to remove entire lamp unit from car or disturb the bumper, just the large plastic cover to give a slight twist and pullto remove then pull the wiring plug and "undo"the metal spring affair that holds the bulb in then refit

Make the most of these kind of cars, hardly any motors are like that anymore.
Even the P2s aren't anywhere near as handy to do, particularly the marker lights on the front.

I recently had a headlight bulb go on the way to work one night, when I got in things were quiet so I said 'I'm just going back out to my car to change the headlight bulb'. When I walked back in a very short time later they asked 'Couldn't you do it then?' and were amazed when I told them it was all done. one of the joys of having the oldest car in the car park.
I normally have at least one spare bulb with me, when the first bulb blows I get two new ones, replace them both and keep the 'part worn' one in the drivers door pocket, when the next one goes I replace it with the spare and buy two more, inevitably the second bulb blows not long after the first so I put in the two new ones and keep the part worn ... and so on. It is great being able to replace them so easily but I do seem to replace more on the Volvo than any other car I've owned, but none of the others had their dipped beams on all the time.

Yes it was a pleasant "surprise" to find that a 2min job was just that and not some long winded affair where you have to dismantle half of everything else to get near it.I'm pretty surprised too that they don't burn out more often due to being on all the time either as drls or used in their usual function.
