Yep, 12mm
I took of my splash guard today as I continued cleaning of my engine ready for vehicle inspection in 10 weeks time.
Tip: when you have your splash guard off, give it a thorough clean with degreaser / dishwashing liquid and hot water, to get rid of the accumulated much.

I got a lot of muck off mine 3 weeks ago, and when I removed it today, it was spotlessly clean

My fears of a slight leak on the charged air pipe coupling to the resonator have been averted, no drops were noted on the splash guard under the pipe.

My D5 engine looks nearly as clean now as it did when it left the factory 10 years and 126000 km ago.

Slightly off topic but this is one area where we are reminded of the superior build quality on Volvo vehicles prior to Ford ownership. On the P2 cars the undertrays are retained by bolts into captive nuts. On my V50 it’s self tapping screws into push in plastic inserts, which are ruined if you over tighten them.
