Loud Fan
I have just noticed on my last 2 journeys that when I park up on the drive there is a very loud fan running under the bonnet when I turn the engine off. It turns off when I lock the car.
I have never had this before in 18 months, even in hot weather. I wonder if this is something to do with the last software update I had done recently. |

Today I had travelled about 80 miles on motorway at only 60mph using ACC, as I had picked someone up coming out of hospital, no queues or anything and outside temp was about 6C. Very strange as it must have been running at full speed as it was pretty loud.

Pretty normal, nothing to worry about as long as it turns off relatively soon after you turn off the ignition.

As a couple of others have said, it sounds like a Diesel Particulate Filter, (DPF), regeneration. I googled it the first time I saw it mentioned on here and found the following which explains it:
"The DPF needs to be cleaned regularly, through a process called regeneration, either active, passive or forced regeneration, the accumulated soot is burnt off at high temperature (around 600°c) to leave only a residue of ash, effectively renewing or regenerating the filter, ready to take on more pollution from the engine." |

I have had this twice this week, Fri and Sat, both on my drive just as I have stopped after a very similar journey of about 80 miles.
