Thinking of selling my police V70 T5...
I just wondered what sort of price I should be asking for - she is ex police, 240,000 odd miles - well look after, base spec although I have removed as many of the tell tale signs she was a police car as possible including sourcing a genuine radio and surround etc. Fitted a better condition centre console, albeit from a pre-facelift car but it was 100 times better than what was there so an upgrade in my eyes.
Good tyres, front are Bridgestone Turaza's with less than 7000 miles on them and brand new rear Hankook with maybe 2000 miles on them - alloys were redone about 5 years ago but now sadly have quite a bit of kerbing, but the actual paint is all good with no bubbles or flakes. Engine is good, I change the oil & filter once a year as regardless of mileage which is usually less than 5000 miles. Gearbox oil was done as were the two output seals, new exhaust not that long ago, brakes are very good with new discs and pads all round within my ownership, handbrake works as if should, air-con needed a new hose so it was pruged and refilled at a Volvo indy using proper refrigerant and blows very cold. Replaced the PEM and have a spare for it as the old one went like a salt shaker. New alternator about 4-5 years ago (less than 20,000miles) 2 replacement low mileage Nivomat shockers on the back - replaced as a pair as one leaked. Car would come with the second one as a good spare (20 min job to swap). Roof bars. 6 speed box. Laminated glass. Xenon headlights. T5 related number plate which I MIGHT sell with it. Interior is pretty tidy really, a good clean and there is not much wrong with it bar usual age related wear. Bad points: Rear window has a crack in it low down where the wiper sits, slightly obscured, not in the way, been like that for years, I have lived with it, being a laminated window it is not going to fail and fall in. Needs a new rear wiper arm (Morrisons carwash killed it!). Drivers window safety stop/return sensor is wonky so you need to hold switch until window is fully up then release. Alarm service warning light comes on if you lock via fob, been like this since I bought her, it doesn't drain the battery if you lock on the fob so we always do and have had no issues. Selecting reverse gear from cold is a little sticky, I always just bounce it through a forward gear first - fine when warmed up - rest of the box is as it should be. Usual high mileage suspension clonks, it has a front end suspension refresh about 6 years ago, top bearings and mounts, shocks, arms, the lot - I think the ARB's might need done, common issue as you will know. Only has one keyfob - I only ever had one for it - battery fairly new within it. Some paint defects, the plastic trim on the roof and windscreen started to flake, it was fixed but has done it again. I am being honest about this car as I want an honest price, I'd jump in her now and drive her the length of the country no sweat, good car, ideally would go to a Volvo fan who wants to sort out these relatively small really, issues and get many years driving enjoyment from her. I was thinking way more basic than that, what colour is it
presumably not white with a red stripe down the middle, or is it blue and yellow squares these days Last edited by stuart bowes; May 17th, 2021 at 21:16. |

It sounds well maintained and I think everyone knows that Volvos run long distances. The trouble is I think you will need to see it to an enthusiast as none Volvo t5 owners will not give decent money for it.
As to value, not sure, could be decent value but I would expect it to potentially take a while to sell. |

It's an '05 in white.
Did cop cars come with steel tanks? If not, has it a neglected fuel filter? Time left on MOTs is usually mentioned too. Any advisories? Besides the pending front end refreshment you have the looming specter of the slave cylinder going. The "One-Way Moon Shot" mileage will frighten many away. If nothing else, use the free advert services offered by many automotive fora. You never know how the word spreads. Universities, trade schools, hospitals and airports have people needing good, seasoned transportation. There'll be some people who'll want to hear it's a T5 and others who'll be better off not knowing. Last edited by Georgeandkira; May 18th, 2021 at 12:51. |

I'll double the current highest offer. At £2, don't say I'm not a generous guy...

Quote:
MoTed until November but would put a fresh MoT on it anyway - advisories on rear ARB's but they will be done soon. |

Sounds like a reasonable car, the snag might be one of location rather than spec, however, being you're in the West of Scotland.
GLWTS, sounds like a fun car to drive.
