Default '04 C70 Convertible suspension creak when cold

Hello, new to the forum, any help appreciated!

I have a '04 C70 2.0T Convertible with 34.5K miles. From cold, the suspension creaks for around 5-10 minutes when travelling slowly over small bumps and during light braking and acceleration.

After it "warms-up" the noise stops. Does anyone here have any advice on if this is normal, or if I should apply grease to a certain part?

no its not normal! It is most likely one of the anti-roll bar link rod joints , can you reproduce it by bouncing the front of the car? If so rest a hand on the link rod and you will feel the vibration from it when bounced ..

Thanks! I can reproduce the noise when I do that.

Is the link rod the threaded part at the top of the suspension? I can feel some vibration through it. Sorry to be so dumb!

What would be the corrective action/repair to this?

no it's not that it is a long thin rod ( about a foot long and 10 mm diameter)with a swivel joint on each end behind the front wheel you may see it with the wheel on full lock . If you try and rotate the rod by hand you may get the same noise . The answer is a new rod .

:-) thank god it's not just me.

I get the horrible clunking when turning, but lubing the stops helped this, although back and forth movement does cause the creaking still!

Can't quite understand why it goes away after 5-10 minutes of driving. I'm yet to test the drop link for vibration when bouncing up and down on the front.

Kepp you posted on my progress!

Cool

If it goes away after 10 minutes of driving then it aint the anti roll bar. I 'll bet you only hear this noise with the hood up. Yes?. Solution - put the hood down, the invigorating fresh air will instill a ' Can't give a f... attitude.Convertibles are noisy/creaky at the best of times and despite what the designers tell you, you will hear noises in a convertible that you wouldn't hear in the saloon equivelant. Only saying this cause because of the low mileage even a modern Volvo shouldn't have bushes/links problems at this stage. Or am I living in the past?.

i had this problem and the local garage charged me £25 to sort it.
it was applying grease to the right areas but not being a grease monkey i let them do it.
