I've found on a few occasions that the Volvo dealer price on parts is not much more than the internet price, with the added benefit of knowing it is the right part and the right quality, and if you call in the morning you can pick up in the afternoon.

Dealer Prices
Had the same on a BMW part some years ago. A plastic part for the internal passenger door handle for an E36 3-Series that kept falling off.
Was working on contract and each day passed a BMW dealer. Eventually plucked up the courage to drop in on the way home, having estimated the price in my mind starting at 5.00 on the first day and up to 25.00+++ when I finally went in. Price was actually 2.50 and collected it the following day with a big smile on my face.

Unless it's the likes of the oil cooler clips for an auto car - which are an absolute disgrace at £22 EACH! When you do a rad change you need 4 of them...and you can't get em elsewhere as I understand it! Yes though, in many respects some prices can be comparable - until it's parts that have you by the dog's danglies....

When I bought my convertible the little plastic cover over the OBD port was missing. Things like that get to me so looked for a replacement. A second hand one was on ebay at £14 but I balked at paying that for a bit of second hand plastic. Next time I was in the dealers I enquired about said plastic. Yes, they are available: 79p +vat.
