Despite pointing slightly uphill, the electronic dipstick has become accessible. But no level is shown...

The Car Scanner app is now reporting just over 10mm for the oil level, so I don't think it's working. The car is giving no warning messages or lights when started.

Seems a daft system just to avoid having a dipstick. Probably fine when the cars are serviced within the main dealer network but outside of that, I can see the correct proceedure being followed most of the time.

Added just 0.25L before a 40 mile round trip... 2 hours later the electronic dipstick is reading maximum.
I call bull**** on the electronic dipstick. I decided on steps of 250ml, but I actually think you could be correct!

I notice with my vehicles a real blast and dump and the oil is clean for miles. Do it cold and it’s contaminated by the previous oil remaining. |

.You drain the oil and filter when it is hot which is the correct way , hot 0w/20 oil has the consistency of petrol, it is thinner than water so all drained out in no time , maybe a couple of minutes until slow drips ... ... then you put exactly 5 litres back in and reset the dipstick and that's it until the next service ... This is the only way to do it at home assuming the same thing was done at the last service. Once the engine has been filled with 5 litres and the electronic gauge reset , the system knows that 5 litres is MAX , if you put 5 litres in next time the calibration will be good enough not to cause a problem , but if there is a problem, the gauge needs to be calibrated but what ever quantity of oil is in the sump at that time is taken to be MAX , that is why it is important to have exactly 5 litres in before calibrating .

yes it is actually ! Cars are becoming very specialised in all ways now , do any of us know how to do the oil levels on a new Ferrari? It's exactly the same..
