Exclamation XC90 ‘54 plate 10 dvd changer in boot, no power?

Hi,

My parents have just bought a xc90 54 plate volvo with then RSE in the rear headrests and the dvd changer in the left hand side of the boot. When the car is on, there is power to the screens, but they just say no signal. The dvd changer in the boot will not eject the discs, but it also seems like there is no power to the dvd changer. I (being much better with tech than my parents) have checked all the cables coming from the DVD player and they seem to go under the far most back seats in the boot. Info: we do not have the dvd remote or the headphones, this is a second hand car and the lady who we bought it from said she never used it and she didn’t buy it new, when she got it there were no headphones or remote.

Any help would be appreciated. 😊

Hi, for a start the disk cassette eject is a basic function it should work without any remote.
Just press the eject button on the player and the 10x dvd player should just pop out.
If it doesn't start looking at fuses in the rear, see manual for location.

But before you start, be aware that there whole RSEdvd device is very outdated. Ykidz these days have far more sophisticated toys that they just carry round. This dvd system is really 'old hat'.

But if you want to look further there is a control unit underneath the floor to the left of the flap you lift to access the dvd player. You need to unclip the rear left panel and pull out a triangular plug. You may have seen this. This whole player is not a Volvo standard part, it was an adjunct for UK specific cars and does not integrate with normal Volvo diagnostics.

But you do need a remote and Wireless headphones for each passenger... I would check carefully in the pockets in the rear seat. Note each has two pockets, the outer with the string pocket but there is an inner too. If you definitely cannot find it, search in these threads for 'rse remote missing' or such like. You can order one by searching rc-3210a

Now the headphones are something else again, search the threads,

Hope this helps
