I would agree

True, I would miss the boot..

So I'll stick with V70. Pretty much same thing+ boot.

BTW: with a D5 163bhp one doesn't need to worry about dpf..

I'm afraid it's 'Once bitten...' with me, having bought a car in the past with knackered big end bearings that only became apparent when I was thrashing it a couple of weeks after I'd bought it. Every car gets thrashed in the test drive, even with the nicely suited salesman next to me, once the car is warmed up I turn to them and say 'You're not going to like this, but if I'm going to buy it I'm going to test it thoroughly first' and then it's redline in second and third, sling it round some tight corners, and hit the brakes with only a loose hold on the wheel.

What are the reasons for preferring s60?

Thanks

I would want to go for the 185bhp s60 if I did get one though

With the s40 no dpf problems? Do they even have one?

Yes I feel the same after just recently getting this s40 and not realizing until a few days after that the suspension is really bad..

You have a few things that I can look for today when testing the s40 ?

Bad signs to look out for with engine and suspension and steering ?

Braking with loose hold on the steering wheel what exactly does it show?

I think you're right, David. It's your money, and if you're at the stage of considering a test drive, you're obviously already eliminated other less suitable vehicles and are serious about the purchase.

Manufacturers routinely test their vehicles to destruction and even the harshest test drive (and there is a difference between driving hard and abuse) is much less demanding than that. If the car passes that test they have made a sale; if not, it is unfit for purpose, and you are right to walk away.

Even before looking at dealers' offerings, when considering a 'new' car, Linda would hire one for a weekend to verify that it was suitable in other ways (especially comfort) before embarking on a search of the dealers for the best used example she could find.

Time spent on research is seldom wasted.

Regards. John.

I have 55 plate s40 2.0 d sport with 123k

How much you think I could sell it for ? It's in very good condition apart from the suspension and steering which is making noises

The s40 d5 I want to look at today is for sale for 1600 and guy is saying he will take my s40 in Px for around 1000

But he hasn't seen it yet
