Default 960/V90 reliabilty

Advice appriciated please.

Thinking of a change to a newer model and just browsing,

Which is better in terms of reliability the 2.5 or 3.0ltr engine varient?

Are the manual boxes good on these.

Do they suffer from niggly electrical problems. Engine mgt issues etc??

Cheers

Don't forget that the 940 lasted until 1998 with reblock reliability too.

Hi,

2.5 and 3.0 were pretty much the same, just different liners for the different cc.

Earlier versions of the 960 white block, or some at least, could suffer from oil weep. The mould for the block moved very slightly over the production period leading to oil weeping from the block walls. I believe the issue was resolved at or about late '93 to '94. Safe to say no S or V had that issue.

The white block does require, and appreciate, good regular servicing. So regular oil and filter changes are a must with these engines.

Manual gearbox, aka white block M90's, are sought after for having better longevity under greater power outputs and are sought after for themselves.
So, no issues with them!
