OP. I am not sure if the 185 V70 is similar to your XC90 but the part that sits against the air filter which I think you are trying to show (the photo is very small on my laptop) is the turbo boost control. The bottom outlet pipe goes to the vacuum pump that sits below the top strut mounting.

The side one goes to a T under the air filter intake pipe. One pipe from the T goes to the front engine mounting and the other side of the T disappears off to the back of the engine somewhere, maybe to the turbo actuator or the rear vacuum controlled engine mount or both. That's just a guess. I cant see in there.

Maybe someone who knows can chip in.

Don't confuse the vacuum control valves - there are two

The one near the air filter is the engine mount control.
The turbo control valve is mounted on the front of the engine behind the inlet charge pipe.

This video explains the vacuum system in more detail. This is on a euro 3 S60 D5, so I'm presuming yours will be similar.

Brilliant, very helpful. Mine is nothing like that.
Lots of other bits missing and not put back properly.
I assume that when I put it back properly it will throw a code at me...lol

I've put all the EGR back now and have about 3 codes.
My little machine can't clear them so I have 3 codes and 3 pending.
P0101
P0108
P0244

And these 3 pending since reinstalling clean EGR
P0102
P0112
P0489
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Your car will have a euro 3 engine as far as I know, so it should be the similar to the one in the video layout wise.

You need VIDA (Diagnostics for Volvo's), as it also gives instructions on how to repair faults. Those generic OBD scanners don't usually clear the codes, so you may get warning messages again after the issues are fixed because the generic scan tools don't usually work on Volvo's.
