Well the never clearing emissions light has now cleared. Despite clearing OK via the magic LED box, it instantly returned on starting. The usual code always referring to running rich or lean at cruise.
Disconnected the battery for a few hours and hey presto! All done. And...Running dog rough again. Love hate relationship with this beast. Interesting that the rough running, specifically mis-firing up to about 2500rpm, improves as it warms up, but also results in an idle at 800rpm which is pulsing to 1100rpm. May fiddle when I get the time, might just live with it... |

Running better today....the light is back on.
That aside, comments by both SWMBO and Dad about the noise have prompted the decision to replace the exhaust. In fairness I've patched it quite a bit over the last few months and it's proper blowing and rattling now, loose baffles in the first box I reckon. At the same time I've got a new NSF lower arm with bushes coming, that's been rattling for a while now and will no doubt be noted on the MOT. I'd rather be doing both jobs now in nice weather than taking a chance and having to do them come January MOT time. |

Lots of post today. Big package with a new exhaust, whole cat back system. New lower arm, bushings and a pair of engine mounts. I'm in for a busy weekend soon.
Quick looksy at the code today, 1-1-3 injector fault, makes a nice change from the usual 'lean/rich at cruise'. Cleared OK and hasn't returned, I've had injector cleaner in the tank for the last 200 miles, maybe I'll do the seals at some point, though the WD40 trick didn't show any problems. |
