My understanding is also that it can only survive a very short time on objects but reading this https://www.bbc.com/future/article/2...st-on-surfaces suggest they can last longer than I had thought "One aspect that has been unclear is exactly how long Sars-CoV-2, the name of the virus that causes the disease Covid-19, can survive outside the human body. Some studies on other coronaviruses, including Sars and Mers, found they can survive on metal, glass and plastic for as long as nine days, unless they are properly disinfected. Some can even hang around for up to 28 days in low temperatures." |

Those are GT wheels -- I have a set on my 1990 that came from a 1977 264. The centre caps on that 262c are nicer than the little ones I have from the 264. GTs are 14 inch, and possibly the lightest factory alloy wheel for the 240.

Rust kills these and there is a lot of it on show. They made a very poor job of welding the special roof to the main body and water seeps down under the vinyl. With this one it looks as if it would only take a bit of levering to remove it. Check the rust at the top of the A post. Yes, spares only, but anything is possible.

its a rotter. I am on my 2nd 262c rebuild and i know how hard parts are to get. I can tell you that car will be a mare to get back to std. Then the issue of the horror show under the bonnet. Get as much spares off it then kill it on the oval.

A deal has been done. I have a friend just a few miles away and has done all the negotiations. A guy i know is very keen to banger race a 262c. So much so he is willing to pay all expenses to fetch it back. I get all the bits and the shell ends its days turning right hand corners. Road trip to Italy a soon as borders open up. (june 15th)

It is, of course, 'DOUGIE68's to do with as he wishes, but if a 'restored' car can make £28K, it may yet repay him to rethink his plans for the car. When it's gone ...
Regards, John.

Its too far gone to do anything with other than break it then let it end its days turning right. Cant save them all or we wouldnt have parts for the good ones worth saving.
