What is my next rank and how many posts to get there?

The front end is just bolt on. The early panels are hard to find so most likely they just used latter stuff as more new style parts available

I see this 262C is back up for sale again on Car & Classic for £16,750, presumably by its new owner from the last time around.

The car looks really nice, but I'd still want to know the story behind why it was extensively facelifted to look newer.

I would guess that the current seller is the same owner as when VandP were listing it. A lot of VandP's stock is commission sales and all their stock is overpriced. One thing I notice on VandP's listings is that they photograph the cars using -presumably - a wide angle lens as all their photos distort the cars proportions.

P.S. A very tidy looking Vanden Plas 1100 sitting next to the Volvo. The owner obviously has delusions of grandeur.

P.P.S. The Volvo has done 1750 miles since VandP listed it - obviously not being used.

I see CMM 262V is back up for sale again, this time with H&H Classic Auctions in Buxton 29 November, guide £14 to £18k.

At least this time there are some more clues to the incorrect bodywork and dash arrangement. The listing states:
Quote:
‘bare shell’ restoration during 2012 encompassing major mechanical and cosmetic works.
Not exactly what I would call a totally honest and transparent description, but at least it might hint to potential purchasers to ask for details of work carried out.

I don't know what a re-bodied 262 is worth, but I guess we'll find out.
