Windscreen washer help!!!

I have searched this forum and read a number of posts with people having similar issues but I cant seem to find a fix for my problem. Please forgive if I've missed the answer on this one.

I have a '02 V40 1.8 and the windscreen washers have stopped working. I had this happen earlier this year and without further investifation I just bought a new pump off ebay. Swapped it out and it worked fine. So all was well and good again until it stopped a couple of weeks ago. I figured that it shouldn't have knackered a pump again in such a short space of time, but regardless went ahead and order another pump thinking the other might have been faulty somehow. So I have swapped the pump again and it still isn't working. So I figure now that I have to fully functioning pumps and clearly the problem lies elsewhere. The lines were nice and clear before it stopped working and I've disconnected before the non return valve and still nothing comes through so its not a blockage.

The wipers work fine. The rear screen wash works fine. I've checked the fuses in the cabin and they are good. The pump doesn't seem to make a sound when the washer stalk is pulled. I don't know where else to look. What is my next option. The weather is starting to get ****e and not having a working screen wash is gonna be a ball-ache.

are you getting power to the pump? Unplug it and check to see if you get voltage.

Check the stalk. I think I remember someone having trouble once. I don't know whether the pump is powered directly off the stalk switch or if there is relay involved.

I would take the stalk out and see if it can be dismantled to clean the switches.

Maybe see if you can get a spare from a breakers yard first!

The connector to the pump has a habit of becoming corroded and dirty. Try cleaning it with some emery paper or similar. Testing the connection for power with a multi meter will show if you need to look elsewhere.

These pumps have the impeller above the motor so when the seal is worn water runs into the motor and corrodes everything. If the pumps you have bought come from broken cars then they are at least 13 years old and may well also be knackered. As mentioned already check you have 12V at the pump and I would also connect each pump directly to 12V to see if they run before you install.
Unfortunately there are a lot of unscrupulous sellers on Ebay.
