Default Sticking tailgate

Hi all,

Has anyone encountered problems with the xc60 tailgate sticking? Been a bit squeaky for a while but now it stops midway and it takes ages for it to shut with a mixture of the button on the remote and pushing it?

Is it best to just take it to a dealer?

Any advice much appreciated.

Is this the future ? Rather than a vehicle which just works we can expect mainstream VW, Ford, VX standard components. It looks like Toyota are more reliable than a Volvo these days.

If it reassures you mine sound identical to, and I assume are sourced from the same supplier as those on my E class.

Although it has a synchronised set of screw risers that lift the luggage screen at the same time.

Although in reality, other than the eastern manufacturers, most brands use the same ancillary components from the likes of Valeo, Bosch, Marelli, Delphi, Denso and Johnson.

I did see a news item from Wales the other day, where a firm was bashing out the centre consoles for 60 series Volvos though.

Probably not. Between DRIVe EGR problems, failing struts and peeling grill badges this has got major quality issues written all over it. The fact that my own car rattles and creaks like a 10 year old FIAT at 5 years says VOLVO have some pretty major quality issues to address. And smartish.

There are a few on here who will defend the manufacturer to the ends of the earth. I think Volvo HAD a cracking product but have let quality slip like Mercedes did in the late 90's. The question is, how are they going to respond ?

I'd love a new Volvo which could match or better my 2005 S60. The current lot is rubbish.

Why not buy a low mileage 2005 S60 then? I've seen a lot of nice ones for sale on eBay.

Before your dealer visit my had the same symptoms, I was working in a dusty quarry and it seized up.
Copious amounts of WD40 solved the problem, let it run down the strut.
