Default 2002 V40 Dashboard light intensity

Hi,
I just replaced all dashboard bulbs on my 2002 Volvo V40 but I'm not sure if everything works as it should.

In fact, I noticed that the potentiometer that adjusts the luminous intensity of the dashboard does not work on the section that you can see in the photo, which is always on at the maximum.

Is it normal?

Yes, it is.

Sorry if I ask you again, but are you absolutely sure about it?

During these months I asked to a lot of people who drive first generation S40/V40 and 50% of them said me that potentiometer should also attenuate the lights buttons section but the other 50% said me it should stay allways full brightness, even if that potetiometer is at its minimum, exacatly as mine do.

As I said the rest of the dashboard works fine and increase and diminish its brightness regurally.

I'm a little bit confused and I can't figure out if I have a problem or not, also because this light always full on it's pretty annoying while I'm driving at night on dark roads.

Did you replace the originals with "proper" incandescent bulbs or LED's? I replaced my bulbs with incandescent bulbs and they dim with the potentiometer.

Could it be because they are not 12v but 14v?

As I said previously in the thread:the bulbs in the switch do not dim with the rest of the dashboard lights. My old P1 was the same. The car is as it left the factory and has never been 'got at'.
