Would 195/60 R15 88V fit to a car with 185/65 R15 88H?
As the title says,
I might be purchasing a broken v40 where I will be taking some parts from it, the tires on the car I'm buying has 195/60 R15 88V and my car has 185/65 R15 88H, would the new tires fit my car? Thanks EDIT: Also what are the advantages and disadvantages of changing up to 195/60 R15 88V? Last edited by Hoggy32; Oct 14th, 2017 at 14:32. |

Here you can see the difference between the tires. Here you may not mix them for MOT,to much difference a whole 1% ,For MOT it is dangerous???????? Why ??Who will tell. |

I can't really see why they wouldn't fit, you'd obviously gain a little bit of width and [if my maths is correct]lose a fraction on sidewall height. If "H" are the correct rating for the car then "V" may be a bit of overkill but no harm done.It could of course come down to any price difference size for size. But as said you cannot mix the two sizes on one axle.

195/60 R15 was the standard original equipment, so all you would be doing is returning the tyre size to standard spec.

The reason is that the manufactor off cars must apply a speedometer that MAY exeed the real speed but no one that shows lower speed that you realy drive. If they don't you can take them to court for giving wrong information witch can cost you money (speeding ).Here they must stay under 1% .The car factory may give different dimensions for the tyres so you can use the dimention they allow.

I put 16 inch on mine , a GDi and run 205 16 50 and that gives me a slightly overreading speedo which i like.
The 195 is what mine had originaly. Use a tyre calculator and it will well you. |

In the UK many V40's had 195/60/15's as OEM and although the 185's are best for winter tyres, you are allowed to fit winter rated OEM size tyres. It is legal to use winter tyres all year, although they wear out a lot faster on hot high speed trips.
